Alvaro Castro is SolarscapeUSA’s largest shareholder and provided the initial seed capital to SolarscapeUSA.
Alvaro Castro was born in Obregon City, Sonora in 1968. Alvaro attended the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in Hermosillo, Sonora achieving his degree in Engineering. Upon graduation, he joined the work team of Exxon Mobil Mexico, where he quickly demonstrated his business savvy and was selected to participate in Exxon Mobil’s management leadership program. Soon after, he opened and led the Exxon Mobil franchise in Mexico. As the Nextel Company started to grow the Nextel Mexico Division, he was invited to be part of their distribution network. Alvaro left Exxon and along with his brother Luis and other partners, co-found Grupo Digital Mexicano, which quickly became Nextel Mexico’s largest consumer dealer and wholesale distribution partner throughout Mexico. Grupo Digital Mexicano’s network of distributors has grown to over 350 stores across Mexico.
Alvaro is also the founder of several other companies:
- TOTAL SOLUTIONS OF MEXICO, the main importer of Motorola accessories in Mexico
- TOTAL SOLUTIONS USA, exporter of Motorola equipment and accessories to Latin America, based in San Diego, CA.
- SOLARSCAPEUSA, enterprise integration of solar energy projects, based in San Diego, CA.
- SOLARSCAPE DE MEXICO, enterprise integration of solar energy projects, based in Hermosillo, MX.
Today, Alvaro is also a co-chair of the Arizona-Mexico Energy Commission Committee which advises both the state of Sonora, Mexico and the state of Arizona, USA on energy related matters.
Alvaro currently maintains residences in Mexico City and San Carlos, Sonora.
